Challenge
To commemorate the centenary of the Battle of the Somme, The Everyman Club in Belgium was re-created – a place of respite and rest for battle weary WW1 soldiers.
Solution
Located at a Georgian property in Spitalfields, whose interior has barely been changed, the house was dressed further with props and furniture from the era. Characters from the time; soldiers, a housekeeper and Tubby Clayton (the owner) himself were on site to welcome and entertain guests.
Visitors were treated to an immersive 2-hour event that included a magic show, stories from the battlefield, a musical cabaret and eouf and frites to eat.
